ARIEL
COLON
Born in 1991 from two passionate Puerto Ricans.
My love of art came vicariously through my mother. As a child at five, she took me to the boardwalks of Atlantic City. There, I would be in awe of one little stand of an artist painting hats and T-shirts with an airbrush. This image of paint-slinging prevented me from wanting to do anything else!
My mother saw my reaction she took advantage of the situation and started me with books and crayons. Little did she know this push would set me up to work as a professional artist a decade later. At age fifteen (2006), I got my first big break, working professionally as an artist, creating custom apparel at a local art studio after school.
Following graduation (2009), I moved to the Bronx to work in my first illustrator role at the highly acclaimed company Airmagination. They embraced me and taught me valuable lessons for a sustainable career as an artist. I spent the next decade with Airmagination, Creating Murals, Custom apparel, and Illustrations for clients MTV, Entertainment Weekly, Vibe Magazine, and Source Magazine, and creating artwork for Jay-Z, Nas, Ciara, and Fabolous, to name a few.
During my time in NYC, I also had the privilege to study at Grand Central Atelier (2012) to help further establish my fundamentals, cast drawing, and life painting.
In 2018, I decided to explore what it took to become a storyteller, which led me to work in the comic book industry! Starting with creator-owned (Indie) comics to working for DC Comics, on IPs like Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern, along with many more.
Presently, I am a freelance illustrator, concept artist, and designer for the entertainment industry clients: Marvel Studios, Upper Deck, Warner Media( DC Comics), Hype Beast, and many more.
I am self-represented and takes clients on a limited basis but, feel free to inquire about my availability.
